2022 Jeep Meridian: Prices and variants explained

Jeep India has launched its latest offering for the Indian market, the Jeep Meridian. The Meridian is a three-row SUV that competes with the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster and Toyta Fortuner.

The Jeep Meridian is based on the same SW architecture as the Compass but is differentiated by enlarged dimensions and a longer wheelbase. It is 4,769mm long, 1,859mm wide and 1,698mm tall. This makes it 364mm longer, 41mm wider and 58mm taller than the Compass. The Meridian has a 146mm longer wheelbase than the Compass, at 2,782mm. Ground clearance is 203mm.

The three-row Jeep SUV is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine, that outputs the same 170PS and 350 Nm. The gearbox options remain the same 6-speed manual and 9-speed torque converter. The Meridian can be had with a 4x2 AT drivetrain unlike in the Compass but the top trim still gets AWD. In this form, the Meridian has a 21.5-degree approach, 23.1-degree breakover and 23.6-degree departure angles. The rear-multilink suspension setup continues with frequency-selective dampers, AWD drive modes, 4-Low mode, hill-descent control, 16-inch inches of water-wading capacity and a 20.426 crawl ratio.

The Meridian has a 60/40 split-folding second-row with sliding, reclining and tumble functions. The third row is a 50/50 split with reclining and a flat-folding function. Boot space with all three rows in use is 170-litre which increases to 481-litres with the third row folded.
