2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara unveiled

Maruti Suzuki has officially joined the mid-size SUV market with the unveiling of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The brand's Nexa dealerships will provide sales of the new mid-size SUV. The Grand Vitara will serve as the brand's flagship vehicle and will sit above the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been collaboratively developed with Toyota and will be produced at the latter's facility in Karnataka with its sibling vehicle, the Hyryder SUV. The Grand Vitara SUV is currently available for reservation for the price of Rs 11,000 through Maruti's upscale Nexa shops.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Design

With an aggressive grille up front and all-LED lighting flanking the sleek steel bar, the all-new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has a very powerful appearance. It also receives a diffuser and a strong-looking bumper. Thick cladding squares off even the wheel arches. The Grand Vitara will get 17-inch alloy wheels with precise cutting. With sleek LED split lights and an LED bar linking both tail lamps, the all-new Grand Vitara's rear looks very unique.

Grand Vitara will be available in two variants from Maruti Suzuki. Progressive Smart Hybrid and Intelligent Electric Hybrid models will be available. The front grille garnish on the Progressive Smart Hybrid has a Rich Chrome finish, whilst the Intelligent Electric Hybrid has a Dark Chrome finish.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Engine

The hybrid powertrain is a 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine from Toyota that produces 92PS and 122 Nm of torque. It is combined with an electric motor that produces 79PS and 141 Nm of torque. The hybrid powertrain produces 115PS in total when combined with an eCVT transmission. The Grand Vitara offers a 25km all-electric range, just like the Hyryder. This engine option's 27.97 kmpl fuel economy has been verified by Maruti.

The 1.5-liter K15C mild-hybrid engine from Maruti Suzuki is also available with the Grand Vitara. It first appeared on the facelifted Ertiga and XL6 and more recently on the new Brezza. It produces 104PS and 117 Nm of torque. The engine will be available with Suzuki's All-Grip AWD technology and mated to either a 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission with paddle shifters.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Interiors

The interior of the brand-new Grand Vitara appears to be pretty upscale. While the seats have Rich Black fake leather upholstery with Champagne Gold accents and the Electric Hybrid trim, the instrument panel has strong, sweeping components. Bordeaux faux leather with high luminant silver accents is offered in the Smart Hybrid version.

The console features a 3D setup, while the interior has a piano black finish. A coloured head-up display with turn-by-turn navigation, speed, a tachometer, fuel efficiency, and other significant alerts is among the features. A 360-degree camera with approaching object recognition and dynamic reverse guidance is also available with the new Grand Vitara. The 9.0-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system has a wireless charger with overheating prevention.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Features and Safety

There are more than 40 linked functions, including, among others, remote AC control, car safety and secure location, a trip counter, and alarms and status information. Additionally, smartwatch connection and Alexa skills are available.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is equipped with a number of safety features, including up to six airbags, an electronic stability program, hill hold assistance, 3-point seatbelts, rear disc brakes, hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, depending on the model.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will take on the likes of the the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor. Prices for the new flagship from Maruti Suzuki will be announced next month.
