2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class launched in India, prices start from Rs 55 lakh
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the fifth-gen 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in India. Prices for the W206 start from Rs 55 lakh for C 200 Avantgarde and go up to Rs 61 lakh for the top C 300d AMG Line. Bookings for the 2022 C-Class began in mid-April for Rs 50,000 and the luxury sedan is being locally produced at Mercedes-Benz's Chakan facility near Pune.

The new-gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class is based on an evolution of the earlier car's MRA architecture but has grown larger in all respects. It is 65mm longer, 10mm wider, and has 7mm more ground clearance. The wheelbase has grown by 25mm, of which 21 mm has been added to the rear seats. The new C-Class also has an impressive drag co-efficient of 0.24 Cd.
The styling echoes that of the larger S-Class with the softer bodylines and the sharper lighting elements. The top-spec AMG Line is differentiated by a spotier grille with star-shaped studds, an AMG-themed bumper, 18-inch wheels(standard 17-inch) and a sportier rear bumper, along with the digital lights, against the standard LEDs in the Avantgarde models. The interiors of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class have also been modelled around that of the current S-Class, dominated by the large 11.9-inch vertical touchscreen, the high-mounted airvents and the T-shaped dash design with the cascading fascia. The C 200 and C 220d is finished in open-pore wood with vertical aluminium inlays while the AMG Line gets an all-black theme with a carbon-fibre pattern, while a brown and black upholstery choice is also available. The C 300d also gets the AMG-style steering wheel and Burmester 3D sound.
Other notable features include the latest NTG7 MBUX with wireless phone pairing, voice commands, 3D Maps and OTA updates. The new MBUX is also equipped with Car-to-X communications. There is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electric adjustment for the front seats and steering wheel and wireless charging.
2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class engines, specifications
The C 200 gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol putting out 204PS and 300 Nm, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C 220d has a 2.0-litre diesel with 200PS and 440 Nm while C 300d AMG Line uses a higher tune of the same engine making 265 PS and 550 Nm. For the first time, all three engines in the C-Class come paired with the nine-speed auto and get the 48V mild-hybrid integrated starter generator with adds up to 20PS and 200 Nm of electrical assistance when needed. The C 200 and C 220d can do 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3s while the C 300d drops this to 5.7s. As for fuel efficiency figures, the C 200 returns 16.9 kmpl, the C 220d 23 kmpl and the C 300d 20.37 kmpl.
2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class prices, rivals
The mid-spec C 220d Avantgarde is priced at Rs 56 lakh. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class competes with the likes of the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, Volvo S60 and Jaguar XE.
