2023 Honda Civic Type R unveiled as the most powerful model in 30 years
Revered by many as the best front-wheel drive on the market, the Honda Civic Type R has just stepped into its latest generation. At a special ceremony last evening in Los Angeles, the 2023 Honda Civic Type R was unveiled with NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Colton Herta at the wheel.
Scalpel-sharp reactions and high-speed stability have been improved with a new lightweight, extremely stiff body. The Civic Type R's infamously addicting driving experience is made even more potent with improved suspension and steering performance. It is track-ready and has been tweaked and tested on the Nürburgring.
The performance specifications of the 2022 Civic Type R have not been verified by Honda, but they have indicated that the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine will be the most powerful Civic ever.
A revised suspension, bigger, wider wheels, improved brakes, revised steering, and an improved six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching are all included in the new Type R. Wider front and back fenders, a honeycomb grille, an updated rear bumper, and the same triple exhaust outlets found on the previous Type R are all part of the external design.
Based on the Civic four-door hatchback, a naturally practical body style, the 2023 Honda Civic Type R offers interior upgrades like suede seat covers, a new +R driver information interface to track the car's engine status, and a real-time data logger to record the Type R's engine performance and lap times.
One of five coloursâ"Rallye Red, Racing Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl or Sonic Grey Pearl is available for the new Civic Type R. Pricing and additional details on the 2023 Civic Type R will be provided closer to launch this year.
