2024 Force Gurkha vs Mahindra Thar vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny: What is different?
Force Motors will launch the refreshed Gurkha three-door in India soon alongside the new long-awaited Gurkha five-door. Ahead of their launch, the specifications of the both models have been revealed. And here, we find out how does the upcoming Gurkha three-door stack up against its competitors, the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
2024 Force Gurkha vs Mahindra Thar vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Dimensions
The 2024 Gurkha three-door measures 3,965mm in length, 1,865mm in width, 2,080mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,400mm. In contrast, the Jimny has a length of 3,985mm, a width of 1,645 mm, and a height of 1,720 mm, while the Thar is 4,000mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,860mm tall. They have a wheelbase of 2,590mm and 2,450mm, respectively.

Although the updated Gurkha features the same 2.6-litre, inline four-cylinder diesel engine, it now delivers 140PS and 320Nm of torque. With this, the Gurkha becomes the most powerful SUV in its segment. However, this motor still comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Notably, the SUV now gets an electronic four-wheel-drive selector dial and has a water wading capacity of 700mm.
Whereas, the Thar gets engine options: a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine producing 117PS and 300Nm, a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel unit that make 130PS and 300Nm, and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine generating 150PS and 320Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and automatic. Mahindra also offers the Thar in 2WD option.
Powering the Maruti Jimny gets a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 105PS and 134.2Nm of torque. This motor is coupled to a five-speed manual and four-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission.
2024 Force Gurkha vs Mahindra Thar vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Price
The price for the 2024 Gurkha three-door is likely to be between Rs 15 and Rs 17 lakh. In comparison, the Mahindra Thar is currently priced from Rs 11.25 to 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Maruti Suzuki Jimny costs Rs 12.74-14.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
