2024 Mahindra Thar Roxx launched; prices start at Rs 12.99 lakh
Mahindra & Mahindra has just introduced the Thar Roxx in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the prices of the Thar Roxx diesel start at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The five-door SUV comes with a range of additional equipment over the Thar three-door.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Design
The new Thar Roxx, compared to the Thar three-door, features a new front end with a redesigned grille, LED headlights, daytime driving lights, LED fog lights, chunky wheel arches, triangular rear quarter glass, slightly slanted line of the C-pillar, and new 18-inch alloy wheels, reworked taillamps, and rear-door mounted spare wheel. Mahindra will offer the five-door Thar in a range of colours, inclduing red, white, and black.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior
On the inside, the cabin gets a new steering wheel, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, Adrenox connected car tech, height adjustable driver's seat, engine start/stop switch, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reclining rear seats, front and rear armrests, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic temperature control, leatherette upholstery, rear air-con vents, and Harman Kardon sound system. It also gets brake locking differential and six airbags.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine specifications
The entry-level variants of the Thar Roxx comes powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 162PS and 330Nm of torque and a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel motor that produces 152PS and 330Nm. Both units can be mated to a six-speed manual and a torque convertor automatic transmission. Mahindra has not disclosed if different powertrain options will be available in the higher-spec all-wheel drive variants, but it is probable that the SUV will receive more powerful units for those variants.
In comparison, the Thar three-door gets a 2.0-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine generating 152PS and 300Nm of torque (320Nm with AT) and a 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel unit that delivers 132PS and 300Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Scorpio-N petrol generates 175PS/370Nm of torque (400Nm with AT), while the Scorpio-N diesel produces 200PS/370Nm (380Nm with AT).
