2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB launch on October 9
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB will be introduced in India this festive season and customers will be able to take deliveries of their car before Diwali. The car first went on sale in China last year and is now expected to make its way to India on October 9 and the brand claims that local assembly of the car is already underway at its Chakan plant.
Upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Exterior
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB appears to be the same as the normal wheelbase model. The notable distinction is the enlarged rear door with a quarter glass positioned behind the rear door, as opposed to the rear window being integrated into the rear door. The extended wheelbase gives the E-Class LWB additional legroom and knee room, yet the cabin retains the same interior trimmings and equipment as the normal model.
The E-Class LWB also has air suspension and a rear-wheel steering system that can turn the rear wheels up to 4.5 degrees.
Upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Interior & Features
The interior of the LWB E-Class is similar to that of the normal E-Class. The vehicle that was displayed in China has varied feature lists, including power reclining rear seats with an ottoman function and the Superscreen that includes 3 integrated displays housed behind a single glass panel on the dashboard. The instrumentation is displayed on a 12.2-inch screen facing the driver, while the main infotainment unit is displayed on a 14.4-inch screen in the middle and a dedicated 12.3-inch third screen for the front passenger.
The new E-Class maintains a high standard of comfort in the backseat with a backrest that reclines up to 36 degrees. Other key features expected 360â'degree ambient lighting, electronically adjustable leg rests, a 21-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, level-2 ADAS and a lot more.
Upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Powertrain
There's no confirmation on the engines that Mercedes will bring to India but we assume it will be two 4-cylinder engines. One being a petrol while the other will be a diesel. Both engines are expected to be boosted by a 48V mild hybrid system for better performance and fuel economy. A 9-speed automatic transmission will be standard.
Currently, the E-Class sold in India starts at Rs 76.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The newly launched BMW 5-series LWB is priced at Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom) so we highly doubt if Mercedes Benz India will breach the Rs 80 lakh price point with the new E-Class LWB.
