2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift launch on 8 Jan: What should you expect?
Mercedes-Benz has set the stage to launch the GLS facelift in India on 8 January, 2024. The refreshed GLS range, comprising the sporty AMG GLS and ultra-luxurious Maybach GLS. That being said, the mid-cycle update has brought numerous changes to the SUV in exterior, interior, colours, features, and mild hybrid tech across the board.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift: Styling
The updated GLS feature a redesigned four horizontal slats in the grille, a new front bumper with an air inlet, new body cladding, and re-profiled headlights and taillights. Additionally, the SUV now boasts new 20-inch alloy wheels finished in Himalayas Grey, while the AMG and Maybach versions come with distinct wheel choices.
Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift: Interior
On the inside, the cabin features a new theme for leather upholstery: Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown along with a new Glossy Brown lime trim wood is standard. Mercedes has given it an upgraded MBUX system, bringing in a fresh user interface with three distinct graphics: Classic, Sporty, and Discreet. It also gets three modes: Assistance, Navigation. and Service. Further, there is a new steering wheel for the GLS and AMG GLS, while the standard version gets air-con vent louvres finished in galvanised silver shadow, which takes inspiration from Maybach GLS.
The GLS facelift sports a standard parking package, featuring a 360deg camera with a new transparent bonnet function that made its debut with the new-gen GLC and has been introduced in the GLA facelift too. Plus, a new off-road mode shows the steering angle, lateral inclination, and compass on the central screen.
Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift: Trims and powertrain
The updated SUV is available in four trims in some international markets, such as GLS 450 4Matic, GLS 580 4Matic, GLS 350d 4Matic, and GLS 450d 4Matic. We expect Mercedes to launch the 450 series petrol and diesel trims in India.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift: Price
The new prices of the refreshed GLS could range between Rs 1.40-1.50 crore to Rs 1.60-1.70 crore. The 2024 Maybach GLS 600, when it arrives, is likely to cost over 3 crore.
Mercedes-Maybach GLS and Mercedes-AMG GLS facelifts: Key highlights
When it comes to the sporty AMG GLS, top-rung the AMG GLS 63 4Matic+ now gets two new paint jobs, namely Manufaktur Alpine Grey (non-metallic) and Sodalite Blue (metallic). Plus, there is an AMG emblem on the bonnet instead of the Mercedes star, along with red brake callipers and AMG-specific logo projection. In addition, two new interior colour options have been added to its cabin: Bahia Brown with Black and Macchiato Beige with Black. The brand has also given new interior trim choices. On top of all it, the AMG GLS facelift comes equipped with an AMG performance exhaust system and adaptive dampers as standard.
The swanky Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 facelift benefits from a new bumper and lights, along with the ambient lighting with Mercedes-Maybach logo projection, fresh seat upholstery, and an optional 23-inch Maybach alloy wheels with forged wheel bolt cover. It also offers two new paint jobs, namely Sodalite Blue (metallic) and Manufaktur Alpine Grey (non-metallic). Moreover, there are two exclusive interior colour schemes: Manufaktur crystal white with silver grey pearl and Manufaktur mahogany brown with macchiato beige.
Both range-topping versions come powered by a 3,982cc twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Having said that, it is hard to say whether Mercedes-India will introduce the AMG and Maybach forms of the GLS alongside the standard model.
