In the most recent set of crash test safety ratings, the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) awarded the new Suzuki Swift a three-star safety rating. The scored 4 starts in the Japanese NCAP safety test and although the Swift hasn't been tested in India yet, Bharat NCAP may shortly assess it. Also, the European spec Swift comes with more safety features as standard than the version we get in India.

Suzuki Swift: Euro NCAP Scores

In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the new generation hatchback achieved a total of 26.9 points, or 67 percent, while in the Child Occupant Protection category, it received 32.1 points or 65 percent.

With a score of 76 percent in the vulnerable road users category, the Swift performed better and offered good or adequate protection for the head of a pedestrian or cyclist that was struck. The automated emergency braking (AEB) technology received a "good" rating from bikers and behaved suitably to pedestrians as well. The hatchback, however, provides no defence against "dooring," which is the act of a car door unexpectedly opening in the direction of a bicyclist who is approaching from behind.

Six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and ADAS features like autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane assist system were among the safety features included in the European spec Suzuki Swift.

The Euro NCAP crash test data indicates that the new Swift's ADAS system received a score of 62 percent with 11.3 points. The AEB Car-to-Car system, Lane Support system, and Occupant Status Monitoring system got 6.5, 2.5, and 0.3 points, respectively, while the Speed Assistance system received 2.1 points.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: India-spec

Apart from ADAS features, the Maruti Suzuki Swift in India gets all the other safety features as standard. The car is available in LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ trims and is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Indian spec car is also powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine producing 82PS at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This motor is coupled to a five-speed manual and an AMT. The European car on the other hand gets a hybrid setup.
