2025 Mercedes-Benz G 63 launched at Rs 3.60 crore
Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the updated Mercedes-AMG G 63 SUV in the country, priced at Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom). The initial allotment of over 120 units has already been reserved, underscoring the high demand for this legendary vehicle. However, bookings are now open for the next batch, slated for the third quarter of 2025. The refreshed G 63 comes with significant updates, including the addition of a mild-hybrid powertrain.
Mercedes-AMG G 63: Highlights
The G 63 carries over its iconic design. Small aerodynamic tweaks and noise reduction measures have been implemented, including a revised radiator grille with four horizontal fins and updated bumpers. For the 2025 model, the rearview camera has been repositioned for better integration into the rear design, and a washer fluid tank has been added near the camera for improved convenience. The G 63 comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, with customisation options ranging from 18 to 20 inches. In addition, there are a host of options to personalise the G 63 inside and out.
The refreshed G 63 is equipped with the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz's MBUX infotainment system, featuring a touchscreen display. A standout addition is the new "Off-Road Cockpit" function, which includes a 360-degree camera system that provides a virtual transparent hood view, showing obstacles underneath the front wheels on the screen.
Additional convenience features include Keyless Go, temperature-controlled cup holders, wireless smartphone charging, and the latest Burmester 3D premium sound system with Dolby Atmos. Safety and driver-assistance features have also been enhanced with options like lane-keeping assist, active steering assist, and emergency stop assist.
Mercedes-AMG G 63: Performance
For the top-spec G 63, it is equipped with AMG's M177 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing a potent 585 PS and 850 Nm of torque. This version also benefits from the 48V mild-hybrid ISG, which adds an extra 20 PS and up to 200 Nm of torque when needed. With the optional AMG Performance Package, Mercedes estimates that the mild-hybrid G 63 can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 4.1 seconds.
In addition to the powertrain updates, the G 63 now comes with an off-road-optimised version of Mercedes-AMG's advanced Active Ride Control system. This optional feature uses hydraulically coupled two-valve shocks to manage wheel and body motion, eliminating the need for mechanical roll bars by adjusting compression and rebound damping for each shock independently.
The entry-level variant of the G-Class keeps its 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid integrated starter-generator (ISG). This setup boosts power output to 367PS and increases torque to a substantial 750Nm. As a matter of fact, the G500 is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, featuring twin turbocharging that delivers 449PS and 560Nm of torque. However, these variants are not available in the market yet.
