A new Jaguar EV prototype is undergoing testing in UK
It feels like forever since Jaguar launched a new car. That's mainly because the brand is focusing on a big transition that would see Jaguar become an even more exclusive brand and an all-electric manufacturer. The first of the EVs will be a four-door GT currently undergoing rigorous testing worldwide. Jaguar claims that "tens of thousands of miles of virtual and physical testing has already been completed" and a pre-production prototype of the 'Design Vision Concept' will debut at Miami Art Week on December 2.
Images of the car being tested in the UK have been released by the brand, providing us with the first glimpse of what to expect in the years to come. The GT's large dimensions, which are highlighted by a massive bonnet and an equally substantial wheelbase, are seen in the disguised images. With what may be a long, skinny headlamp treatment, the new GT also seems to have a more buff and square front end than the curved design of earlier Jaguars, albeit being cleverly concealed by the cladding.
Two other all-electric vehicles, presumably a big SUV and Jaguar's version of a new, large two-door coupe, will follow the four-door GT. The Design Vision concept's design language will be used for all three of the new Jaguars.
Jaguar has created a custom platform known as JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) for its latest models. Batteries with a capacity of more than 100kWh produced at JLR's gigafactory in Somerset are anticipated to be used. The first redesigned Jaguar will be manufactured at the Jaguar plant in Solihull, UK.
