All-new India bound Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro debuts at 2024 Beijing Motor Show
Volkswagen has pulled the wraps off the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show and after the Chinese market, the SUV will be launched in India. All though China will get the 5-seater version of the SUV, the Indian spec car will be a 7-seater. The Tiguan L Pro is a three-row SUV kind of like the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace, which was temporarily available in India between 2020 and 2022.
Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro: Design
The Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro SUV is 4,735 mm long, 1,859 mm wide, and 1,682 mm tall. For comparison, this is 197 mm longer, 17 mm wider, and 43 mm higher than the 5-seat Tiguan. The SUV also has a 111 mm longer wheelbase than its five-seater counterpart. It has the same MQB AO architecture as the Tiguan.
Beginning with the front, the Tiguan L Pro receives an aggressive-looking front bumper in a contrasting black finish. It also features flared wheel arches. The new Tiguan's rear has a well-sculpted tailgate, wraparound tail lights with a connected LED light bar, and a blacked-out back bumper.
Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro: Powertrain
The Tiguan L Pro will be available with a variety of powertrain options, including plug-in hybrid, diesel, and pure petrol engines. For the Chinese market though, there is a 2-litre turbo four-cylinder mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission and is available in 2 states of tune. The first one produces 186PS and 320Nm of torque while the other one has 220PS and 350Nm of torque. Both cars also get optional all-wheel drive.
Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro: Interior
The dashboard features a simple design with three screens: the primary infotainment system, the digital instrument cluster, and one on the passenger side of the dashboard. All three screens use VW's newest MIB4 digital interface.
The SUV also has illuminated physical buttons and switches for controlling the different functions in the interior. Additional amenities include wireless charging, 10-point massage seats with heating and ventilation, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone temperature control, a head-up display, and an ADAS suite.
The German automaker will deliver the 7-seater SUV to India as a CKD unit and it will rival the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming Ford Endeavour (Everest).
