Ather CEO, Tarun Mehta confirms 2 new scooters coming in 2024
Tarun Mehta, CEO and co-founder of Ather Energy, has officially announced the release of two new electric scooters in 2024 via a social media post. Due to popular demand, a new family-oriented scooter and a more powerful edition of the 450X are both set to be released next year.
The present-day 450S and 450X scooters are extremely aggressive and a more fun-to-ride kind of package. But their small size does hold back its practicality which eventually makes most consumers overlook it. That's exactly what Ather hopes to solve with the new scooter, which might have a larger and broader seat, a more roomy floorboard, and a larger trunk capacity.
Mehta acknowledged the development of a family electric scooter that is "designed with your entire family in mind, offering comfort, ample size, and a whole lot more" in an X (previously Twitter) post. However, Mehta has indicated that this scooter would not be available till 2024.
The family scooter will most likely share the 450S's 2.9kWh battery pack, LCD instrument dashboard, and other hardware and amenities. We anticipate that Ather will initially release the LR (Low Range) version, followed by the HR (High Range) version. Ather will be able to attract a broader spectrum of clients with the family scooter. It will compete against the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Vida V1 Pro.
Furthermore, the CEO of Ather announced that they are working on an update of the 450 series of electric scooters. As a result, we anticipate that the next Ather 450 electric scooter will have a more efficient drivetrain, a larger battery pack, and more underseat storage.
Perhaps the new model will have a slight increase in acceleration and a peak speed of 100kph. A slightly redesigned design with additional functionality is also expected to be included in the bundle. However, this will come at a price premium above the current range.
