Audi Q5 gets an update – Beijing Auto Show
The younger member of the Q family but not quite the youngest, the Q5 has just received some updates to it. However, one wouldn't be able to make it out visually. The biggest change has happened under the hood. Audi has plonked in a hybrid powertrain for the first time in the Q5. A 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine with 214PS on tap mated to a 55PS electric motor. Power is transferred to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with a 0-100kmph dash being completed in a claimed 7.1 seconds and combined fuel efficiency rating of 14.45kmpl.
Audi is offering the new Q5 with two petrols, three diesels and the new hybrid engine. The 2.0-litre TDI powered Q5 can be ordered with in 145PS or 179PS configurations while the bigger 3.0-litre V6 engine makes 248PS. Various transmission options are also available with the four cylinder engines being offered with a 6-speed manual as standard while others with 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic gearboxes. Audi claims to have ensured better than before fuel efficiency figures for all the engines.
For the exteriors, Audi has added some minor touches while the interiors also follow the same fashion. Revised bumpers and some refreshed headlamp elements add to the styling while the new additions to the interiors are the tri-zone climate control and richer trims than before.
