Audi Q6 e-tron gains new rear-wheel drive version with longer range
After making a global debut a few months ago, the Audi has unveiled the rear-wheel-drive version of the Q6 e-tron, offering longer range over the all-wheel-drive model. The Audi Q6 e-tron Performance sits below the 387PS Q6 e-tron quattro and 517 SQ6 e-tron.
Audi Q6 e-tron Performance: Range, charging, battery
The entry-level Q6 e-tron Performance boats a 100kWh (94.9kWh net) battery pack paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 326PS, which is "when the extra function is engaged". As a result, the electric SUV can go from zero to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds. Notably, the new RWD Q6 e-tron Performance will have a WLTP range of 641km, with up to 260km of range claimed to be available in 10 minutes of charging at a suitable fast charging station. Its 800V charging architecture supports up to 270kW DC charging speed and up to 11kW AC charging speed.
The Q6 e-tron quattro and SQ6 e-tron have a range of 625km and 598km, respectively. The former can reach 100kmph from zero in 5.9 seconds, while the latter takes only 4.3 seconds. They provide a top speed of 210kmph and 230kmph, respectively.
Audi says that, if a charging station is capable of 400V supply, the Q6 e-tron can enable bank charging. The 800V battery is automatically divided into two batteries at equal voltage, which can then be charged in parallel with up to 135kW. Depending on the state of charge, both halves of the battery are first equalised and then charged simultaneously. The Q6 e-tron's advanced recuperation system can recuperate at 220kW.
Audi Q6 e-tron Performance: Features
Although the Q6 e-tron Performance is the entry point to the Q6 e-tron range, it is expected to come equipped with a host of features, such as active digital light signature at the front, second generation digital OLED rear lights, Audi Digital Stage consists of a 11.9-inch driver display, a 14.5-inch central information hub, and a 10.9-inch display with active privacy mode; 20-speaker, 830-watt, Bang & Olufsen sound system; heads-up display with Augmented Reality (AR), AI-powered Audi Assistant that can understand over 800 voice commands, ambient lighting, multi-zone temperature control, powered front seats, and use of recycled materials for interior.
For the first time, the infotainment system uses Android Automotive OS. It allows users to download third-party apps, such as YouTube. Meanwhile, the SUV offers a boot space of 526 litres and a front storage space of 64 litres. The boot space can be extended to 1,529 litres when rear seats folded.
Audi Q6 e-tron Performance: India launch & rivals
With customer deliveries of the electric SUV for the western markets will begin this August, we expect Audi to introduce the Q6 e-tron range in India by the end of this year. At first, it will likely to be available as a CBU. Upon launch, the Q6 e-tron will take on the Mercedes-Benz EQE and BMW iX.
