Audi showoff custom build S1 e-tron Quattro Hoonitron for Ken Block
Ken Block debuted his new Audi S1 Hoonitron on Wednesday, a custom-built electric vehicle that Audi created just for him.
The Audi S1 e-tron Quattro Hoonitron is based on the newly released RS e-tron GT electric fastback, but it has been significantly altered both inside and out to fit the specifications of the former World Rally Championship racer, Ken Block. The electric drift vehicle was inspired by the heavily modified Group B rally car that won the 1987 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Two electric motors, all-wheel drive, plenty of power, a carbon fibre chassis, and full safety regulations set by motorsport's highest regulating body, the FIA, are just a few of the S1 Hoonitron's features.
Ken Block said "Audi gave me the opportunity to test it for a few days in Germany. I'm familiar with a wide variety of cars using internal combustion engines and transmissions, but there were a lot of new things for me to learn here. Spinning into a donut at 150 km/h directly from standstill â" just using my right foot â" is an all-new experience for me. Our work was focused on getting the car and I used to each other. My thanks go to the whole Audi Sport squad for their outstanding teamwork."
Fans will soon be able to witness the US star's success with the project. Ken Block and his crew will make the next film in his famous Gymkhana series, including the S1 Hoonitron, under the working title Elektrikhana.
