Auto Expo 2012: Chevrolet showcases 15 production and concept vehicles
General Motors India has brought out a plethora of vehicles at the 11th edition of the Auto Expo. The vehicles which are being displayed at the Chevrolet stand have been categorised into three themes - Chevrolet Next, Chevrolet Technology & Innovation and Chevrolet Performance.
In the Chevrolet Next section, GM has a range of new models that will be launched in India in the coming year. The Tavera Neo3, part of this bouquet, is an upgraded Tavera which has now been spruced up to feel more luxurious and premium. It now sports Chevrolet's twin-port grille and a bigger Chevrolet logo. The highest variant will have two tone body colour. The new Tavera Neo3 is available with a 2.5-litre direct injection insta-torque turbocharged engine (BS3) and an all-new 2.0-litre common rail direct injection diesel engine that is BS4 emission compliant. There is also a refreshed version of the Captiva. The Captiva was launched in India at the 2008 Auto Expo. And now GM India will be launching the next Captiva 2.2 AT. The new model includes a powerful 2.2-litre engine along with a six-speed automatic transmission. It also has a fresh new sporty and muscular exterior design and a jet-black interior. It will have cruise control, a dual-row heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, an electric parking brake, rain-sensing wipers and a sunroof.
Alongside the Camaro Convertible, Corvette Stingray Concept, Cruze racing car and Captiva 2.2 AT, GM is also showing visitors the Chevrolet Cruze special show car and Chevrolet Beat that was the winner in the Adventure Category of the Raid de Himalaya 2011. At the Chevrolet Next section, GM is also showing the all-new Chevrolet Sail hatchback and the Chevrolet MPV, which will be unveiled tomorrow, as well as the Chevrolet Beat Diesel, India's most fuel-efficient car, and the Chevrolet Beat Music Edition.
In the Chevrolet Technology & Innovation section, GM is displaying its future technologies like the Chevrolet Volt, the world's first mass produced electric vehicle with extended range technology, the Chevrolet Beat BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) which as a 270-kilogram battery that can power the Beat BEV for at least 98 kilometres under normal driving conditions, the Chevrolet EN-V, which is short for Electric Networked-Vehicle and the Chevrolet Spark LPG. The biggest draw at this stall with is Chevrolet Performance section which has all the legends from GM's lineup. You can see the Camaro Convertible, the Corvette Stingray Concept and the Cruze Racing Car.
