Bajaj Freedom CNG launched in India; prices start at Rs 95,000
Bajaj Auto has launched the all-new Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle in India with prices starting at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). It is available in three variants, namely Freedom 125 Disc LED, Freedom 125 Drum LED, and Freedom 125 Drum. The mid-spec and top-spec variants cost Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Bajaj offers it in five paint schemes: Ebony Black, Caribbean Blue, Cyber White, Racing Red, and Pewter Grey.
The headline feature of this motorcycle is the powertrain - a 125cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 9.5PS at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 6,000rpm. This motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
For safety, Bajaj has placed the 2kg CNG tank inside the frame of the motorcycle. Not only that, it also gets a petrol tank with a capacity of 2 litres. However, the fuel filler cap is shared between the petrol and CNG. As claimed, the combined range of the Freedom CNG is rated at 330km. The CNG bike gets a blue button on the switchgear to switch between the two fuels.
With this, Bajaj claims that the Freedom lowers the operating cost by 50 per cent compared to a petrol-only motorcycle. Furthermore, CNG generates approximately 26.7 per cent less CO2 emissions compared to petrol, emits 85 per cent lower levels of NMHCs, and reduces NOx by 43 per cent.
The Freedom gets an LED headlight, an all-digital cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, telescopic front forks, a linked rear monoshock, a disc at the front, and a drum brake at the rear. It uses 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. The Freedom has a seat height of 825mm and weighs 147kg.
