BMW X5 facelift launched in India; prices start at Rs 93.90 lakh
BMW has launched the X5 facelift in India with prices starting at Rs 93.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Unveiled in February this year, the X5 LCI recieves significant updates to the powertrains, a fresh look, a revised and tech-laden interior, and upgraded features. While the its predecessor was offered in two trims, the X5 facelift is available in a choice of four trim levels: xDrive40i xLine, xDrive40i M Sport, xDrive30d xLine, and xDrive30d M Sport. Notably, BMW assembles the X5 facelift at its facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
BMW X5 facelift launched: Design and Colours
The refreshed X5 features an illuminated signature kidney grille for the first time. New slimmer matrix LED headlights with blue inserts and selective beam, arrow-tip-shaped daytime running lights, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new angular taillights creating a split X-motif. As standard, the India-spec model gets a set of 21-inch alloy wheels. BMW also offers M Sport package with the X5 facelift with M-specific design elements, such as sporty front bumper, distinctive exhaust tips, and gloss black highlights on various parts.
In terms of colours, the India-spec X5 facelift comes in with a choice of six paint options: Brooklyn Grey, Skyscraper Grey, Black Sapphire, Tanzanite Blue, Mineral White, and Carbon Black. The international-spec model also comes with two new colours: Blue Ridge Mountain metallic and Frozen Pure Grey metallic that are not available here.
BMW X5 facelift launched: Interior
The interior has an extended Merino leather trim available Tartufo, Black, Black and Ivory White, and M Sport configurations. However, the entry-level xLine trim level comes with Sensafin upholstery with decor stitching in Cognac colour theme. The highlight of the cabin is the new BMW Curved Display with OS8 â" a single-piece curved glass panel that houses a 12.3-inch driver display and 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There is also a Harman Kardon sound system, an updated BMW iDrive system with a redesigned centre console and ambient light bar â" reminiscent of the 7 Series â" with an illuminated X5 logo.
Further, the India-spec X5 facelift is available with sports seats as standard in the xLine trim, while the range-topping M Sport trim comes with comfort seats with active ventilation and fully electric adjustability as standard.
BMW X5 facelift launched: Features and equipment
The Bavarian automaker has bestowed the SUV with a range of features, such as a four-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, comfort access system, and new travel and comfort system, among others. The M Sport models further come equipped with numerous M elements, namely M Steering, M headliner, M footrest and pedal covers in aluminium, illuminated M door sills, and M-spec vehicle key.
The X5 facelift also boasts cruise control, BMW Digital Key Plus, attentiveness assistant, new parking assistant professional, 360deg camera, six airbags, drive recorder, reversing assistant, and remote parking via smartphone.
BMW X5 facelift launched: Powertrain
The brand has updated its petrol and diesel engines. For the India-spec X5 facelift, there is a new twin turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol motor producing 381PS and 520Nm of torque. Thanks to the mild hybrid system, the torque can go up to 540Nm. It is to be noted that this engine generates 47PS and 70Nm more than its predecessor. BMW has also tweaked its 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder, twin turbocharged diesel unit, featuring a new common-rail direct injection system with solenoid valve injectors, steel pistons, and an improved oil separation process. Like the petrol engine, the diesel motor also gets mild hybrid functionality. It delivers 286PS and 650Nm of torque. Mated to the engines is an eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the international-spec X5 facelift is available with a new 498PS/700Nm xDrive50e PHEV trim and the top-of-the-line BMW X5 M60i xDrive with 530PS/750Nm.
BMW X5 facelift launched: Rivals
In India, the 2023 X5 facelift competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Land Rover Discovery, and Jaguar F-Pace.
