BSA Gold Star India launch on 15 Aug: What should you expect?

Classic Legends, a Mahindra Group subsidiary, recently teased a new motorcycle and we already know it will be the BSA Motorcycles' Gold Star. This British motorcycle brand will be launching its offering in India on this 15 August. Here is what should you expect from the Gold Star. Although Classic Legends will bring BSA Motorcycles to India, the Gold Star is likely to be launched as a CBU at first. Currently, it sells only one motorcycle in the western markets.

BSA Gold Star: Design & specifications

Inspired by the good old DB34 Gold Star 500, the Gold Star bears a retro look. It gets minimal bodywork and subtle colours with a circular headlight, round mirrors and indicators, a flat single-piece seat, plain teardrop fuel tank, a long tail section, chrome-finished panels and parts, wire spoke wheels, and dual circular instrument console.

The Gold Star comes outfitted with telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock, dual-channel ABS, a 310mm single front disc, and a 255mm single rear disc. It weighs 213kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. Its seat height stands at 780mm.

BSA Gold Star: Powertrain

Powering the motorcycle a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine generating 45PS at 6,500rpm and 55Nm at 4,000rpm. Mated to this motor is a five-speed gearbox. In comparison, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, its direct rival, a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine producing 47PS at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. Unlike the Gold Star, RE offers a six-speed gearbox.

BSA Gold Star: Price & rivals

The Gold Star is likely to be priced between Rs 2.70 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh. Once launched, it will compete against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
