BYD Seal EV launched in India; prices start at Rs 41 lakh
BYD has launched the new Seal EV in India with prices starting at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric sedan is now available in three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance across four paint schemes. It comes in a choice of two battery packs and three drivetrain options. The brand has already opened bookings for a token amount of Rs 1.25 lakh. Notably, the entry-level Dynamic trim is priced at Rs 41 lakh, while the Premium variant costs Rs 45.55 lakh (both ex-showroom). Whereas, the top-spec Performance trim comes with a price tag of Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom).
BYD Seal EV: Powertrain
The India-spec Seal EV gets two battery pack options: 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh. In addition, there are three powertrain options to choose from, firstly entry-level variant gets the 61.44kWh unit paired with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) motor, while the mid-spec trim comes with larger battery pack with the same RWD motor. The top-spec variant of the Seal EV features a dual-motor setup coupled to the 82.56kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the EV equipped with the larger battery pack can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in a claimed 26 minutes with a 150kW DC fast charger. However, the 61.44kWh unit supports up to 110kW charging. With this, 15 minutes of charging can provide a range of up to 200km. That said, all powertrain are compatible with up to 7kW AC charging.

BYD Seal EV: Design
The Seal EV boasts a modern design, incorporating unique elements and a slanting roofline in line with BYD's "ocean aesthetics" concept. It uses the e-platform 3.0 and CTB (cell-to-body) technology, integrating the battery pack into the chassis. With dimensions of 4,800mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,460mm in height, along with a 2,920mm wheelbase, the Seal EV provides a spacious interior and practical features such as a 400-litre boot capacity and a 50-litre front trunk.
BYD Seal EV: Interior
The interior of the India-spec Seal has a Thaumas all-black theme. There is also a crystal gear selector and electronically adjustable air-con vents. Plus, it gets leather upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel while the entry-level variant comes with artificial leather upholstery.
BYD has given a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, sport seats, a 12-speaker sound system, a heads-up display, eight-way electronically adjustable driver seat with memory function and four-way lumbar, six-way power adjustable co-passenger seat, dual-zone temperature control, ambient lighting, PM2.5 filter, two wireless charging pads, front seats ventilation and heating, wireless Android Auto, wired Apple CarPlay,
BYD Seal EV: Features
In terms of features, the Seal comes fitted with NFC card key, powered boot opening, powered ORVMs with memory and heating functions, a panoramic sunroof, TPMS, a 360deg camera, traction control, hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, vehicle-to-load (V2L), and four driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow). Also on offer are numerous ADAS features.
BYD Seal EV: Rivals
The Seal EV competes against the BMW i4 electric sedan (Rs 72.50-77.50 lakh), Kia EV6 (Rs 60.95-65.95 lakh), and Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 46.05 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom.
