BYD Seal listed on Indian website, launch expected soon?
The BYD Seal that was showcased at the Auto Expo last year has officially been listed on the Chinese brand's Indian website, hinting that the car will be launched very soon in the country. The car has already been spotted testing on Indian soil and sources also say that the BYD has also unofficially started accepting bookings for the upcoming EV.
BYD Seal: Exterior and Interior
The electric sedan has dimensions of 4,800mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,460mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920mm, and is based on the brand's EV platform (e-platform 3.0). This design idea, known as "ocean aesthetics," is consistent with BYD's aim for its electric car series.
The Seal EV has huge LED headlights and C-shaped DRLs up front, giving it a sleek, modern exterior. The beautifully crafted LED lighting components in the side air vents and bumper trim pieces are just one example of how much aesthetic flair it possesses.
The Seal EV sports a 10.25-inch digital driver's display and a spinning 15.6-inch touchscreen. The inside also has a central AC vent, a drive selector, a scroll wheel for switching between driving modes, two wireless charging pads, door handle-integrated speakers and a panoramic glass roof. Driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and more.
BYD Seal: Drivetrain
There are 2 battery packs available with the BYD Seal that include a 61.4kWh and an 82.5kWh. While the smaller battery can be had in both single as well as dual-motor setups, the latter is only available with AWD. As for the Indian market, sources suggest we will only get the top-of-the-line car with dual motors.
This model packs about 530PS and can go from a standstill to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds. BYD claims this variant has a range of up to 700km. For reference, the 61.4kWh battery pack with AWD only produces 312PS and takes about 2 seconds more to hit 100kmph.
BYD Seal: India launch
As of now, we don't have much information on the launch of the car but it is anticipated to take place as soon as March 2024. The Seal EV directly locks horns with the Tesla Model 3 overseas, but keeping in mind Tesla doesn't have a footprint in India yet, the Seal will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 upon launch.
