CEAT launches new Sportrad and Crossrad radial tyres
CEAT has launched its new range of steel radial motorcycle tyres, named Sportrad and Crossrad, at an event in Hosur, Karnataka. Tailored for high-performance motorcycles, the Sportrad tyre prioritises high speed and cornering, while the Crossrad variant is designed for multi-terrain use. The road-biased Sportrad, leaning towards an 80:20 on-off-road bias, will initially be released in two sizes: 110/70 ZR17 and 150/60 ZR17. Meanwhile, the Crossrad, designed with a 60/40 on-off-road bias, will be available in a single size: 140/60 R17.
The Sportrad tyre, suitable for high-performance motorcycles, namely KTM RC390, KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Dominar 400, and TVS Apache RR310, costs Rs 12,500 for a pair. On the other hand, the Crossrad, catering to motorcycles such as Yamaha FZ lineup and Suzuki Gixxer, comes with a pair price of Rs 4,300.
CEAT says that the Sportrad series features equidistant mid-crown grooves for improved cornering stability, along with a silica-blended tread compound to achieve an optimal stiffness balance. These tyres promise a sporty performance with features, such as slick shoulders for extreme lean angles, optimised groove design for superior wet grip and cornering stability, and a maximised slick area at the crown for stability at speeds up to 270kmph.
On the other hand, the Crossrad series boasts an asymmetrical block tread design and transversal grooves along the circumference, claimed to offer the desired grip in gravel, mud, and various off-road terrains. The interconnected shoulder blocks provide a wider contact area for an enhanced cornering grip. With specially shaped centre blocks and a steel-belted radial construction, the Crossrad series, as claimed by the brand, provides a satisfying handling experience for off-road enthusiasts.
