Citroen Basalt Coupe spotted testing undisguised

The Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV, Citroen's newest addition to its roster, has been photographed undisguised for the first time ahead of its expected arrival in the latter half of 2024. The Basalt Vision is a coupe SUV from the French manufacturer that shares the same design language and platform with other Citroen vehicles such as the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV.

Citroen Basalt Coupe: Exterior

The spy photos clearly show that the test mule for the Basalt coupe SUV closely mimics the look of its Vision concept. It has a sloping roofline and an elevated posture, with a notchback shape that reflects its coupe nature.

The Basalt's design features include a sloped rear windscreen, a high-mounted stop lamp, wraparound LED taillights, flip-style door handles, and squared-off wheel arches. The test mule's taillights are similar to those of the concept version.

Citroen Basalt Coupe: Interior and Features

While Citroen has yet to reveal the interior of the Basalt, we expect it to resemble the C3 Aircross with distinctive elements and additional features. The Citroen Basalt is likely to have a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver's display, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, and push-button engine start/stop. Its safety features may include up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Citroen Basalt Coupe: Powertrain

Citroen has not disclosed detailed powertrain specifications for the Basalt but is anticipated to feature a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with options for a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. This motor is good enough for 110PS and up to 205Nm.

On the other hand, the upcoming Curvv which will lock horns against the Citroen is likely to be offered with Tata's newest 1.2-litre turbo-petrol TGDi engine and a 1.5-litre diesel unit.
