Citroen Basalt scores 4-star rating in BNCAP safety test
Bharat NCAP has just put its 5th model through its safety test created for cars in the Indian market. The all-new Citroen Basalt scored a respectable 4-star safety rating, becoming the first non-Tata SUV to be tested by BNCAP.
The Citroen Basalt received a 4-star rating for adult occupant protection (AOP) with a score of 26.19 out of 32 points. Along with offering only 'marginal' protection for the driver's upper leg, the car performed 'good' overall in side impact testing, such as the side pole and side moveable deformable barrier tests.
The Basalt received a great score of 19.90 out of 24 for child occupant protection (COP). By using a child restraint system for an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child the Basalt scored a perfect 12 on 12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation and 4 out of 13 for vehicle assessment.
The safety features of the Citroen Basalt include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), Isofix child seat anchors, and seat belt reminders for all passengers. Three-point seat belts are standard across the lineup.
