Citroen C3 scores 0-stars in Latin NCAP safety test

The Citroen C3 was subjected to the Latin NCAP crash test and received 0 stars. The Citroen C3 tiny hatchback was tested in a series of crash tests and received a zero out of five rating owing to its unstable construction, poor frontal impact protection, lack of side head protection, and seatbelt reminders.

In terms of adult occupant safety, the C3 received 12.21 points. In terms of kid occupants, the hatchback received 5.93 points. The driver's and passenger's heads were well protected in the frontal impact. The driver's and passenger's right knees provided just limited protection.

The chest provided inadequate protection, however, the front passenger had acceptable protection. The bodyshell was deemed unstable and incapable of supporting further loads.

In the side impact test, the head and chest were adequately protected, while the abdomen and pelvis were well protected. The side pole impact test was not carried out since the vehicle lacked side head protection.

The 3-year-old's child seat was capable of preventing head exposure and provided adequate protection. The 1.5-year-old's kid seat may also avoid head impact with the car's interior. Even in the side impact test, both child restraint systems provided nearly complete protection to the kid dummies. The automobile comes equipped with ISOFIX, although the marking does not exceed Latin NCAP criteria.

Citroen C3 gets two engine options. There is a 1.2-litre, in-line three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol producing 82PS and 115Nm of torque. This motor is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a 1.2-litre, in-line three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol 110PS and 190Nm of torque. However, it comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
