Citroen India to begin exporting C3 hatchback after signing MoU with Kamarajar Port
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the French automaker and Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) is in place to facilitate the export of vehicles made at Citroen's Thiruvallur factory. Citroen will begin exporting fully built-up units (CBUs) of the C3 hatchback from the Kamarajar Port in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Midway through 2022, the C3 hatchback made its debut in India before moving on to several other markets, including Brazil, where the C3 is also produced. It appears that the C3 will now enter markets in Southeast Asian nations as well as in Africa.
A 1.2-litre gasoline engine with 82PS and a five-speed manual transmission are standard on the C3. The top-spec version also offers a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 110PS and a six-speed manual transmission as an option.
Announcing the MOU, Roland Bouchara, CEO & MD, of Stellantis India said "This partnership with Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) fortifies the Stellantis group's 'India for the World' philosophy that will leverage India's distinctive manufacturing export potential. In 2019, we started exporting powertrains from our Hosur facility and with the commencement of the with the New C3 exports as a CBU this year we are marking a key milestone in our India journey. We have created a 360-degree ecosystem that is reaping strong results for the group and we will continue to grow this in the future. "
