Dacia Bigster unveiled; Expected to come to India in late 2025
Dacia has just revealed the all-new Bigster, a bigger version of the Duster that was unveiled in February earlier this year. This new C-segment SUV is Dacia's biggest model to date and looked almost as rugged and identical to the concept car that was displayed back in 2021. The car is expected to come to India in the latter half of 2025 but strictly as a 7-seater.
Dacia Bigster: Design
The Bigster measures 4570mm long, 1810mm wide, and 1710mm tall and has a wheelbase of about 2700mm. This makes its overall length and wheelbase 230mm and 43mm longer than the new Duster.
Being the bigger version of the Duster, the Bigster's design is almost identical to the previously seen car. From the first look, you get the sense that utility and functional design have plenty of emphasis. The Dacia emblem is centred in a sizable gloss black grille on the nose. The Duster comes with elegant LED headlights that have Y-shaped components. The fog lights are positioned beside the bumper and it also has a silver skid plate.
There is an option of 17, 18, or 19-inch alloy wheels, and the majority of the rear bumper and the cladding are constructed of Starkle, a material developed by Dacia's experts that includes up to 20 percent recycled polypropylene. Dacia also claims that the Bigster has a ground clearance of 220mm.
Dacia Bigster: Interior & Features
The inside of the Dacia Bigster uses a dual-tone cabin - black and grey - and is made entirely of sustainable materials. It includes a 10-inch digital instrument panel (7-inch one lower variants) akin to the Duster's and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Depending on the version, it comes with an ADAS suite, wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, an Arkamys music system, dual-zone temperature control, a motorized tailgate, and a powered driver's seat.
The rear bench seat can also be split 40:20:40 to increase the standard boot capacity from 667 litres to over 1000 litres. The Bigster is offered as a 5 seater in Europe at the moment, but when it comes to India under the Renault brand, there will be an additional third row of seats.
Dacia Bigster: Powertrains
The Bigster's powertrain options will currently include LPG, mild hybrid, and strong hybrid petrol engines. Beginning with the entry-level TCe 140, which has a six-speed manual transmission, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, and 48V mild hybrid technology. It generates torque of 230 Nm and 142PS and 230Nm of torque. The mild hybrid petrol engine in the TCe 130 4x4 now generates 132PS and 230Nm of torque. However, it also includes five driving modes - Auto, Eco, Off-Road, Mud/Sand, and Snow - and four-wheel drive for varying terrain. Additionally, a 6-speed manual gearbox is used.
The Hybrid 155's four-cylinder, 107PS gasoline engine combines with two 50PS electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack to provide a total output of 155PS and 170Nm. A 2-speed gearbox for the e-motor and a 4-speed automatic transmission for the gasoline engine provide power to the front wheels. Then there is also the ECO-G 140 with 142PS that utilises a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid assist which runs on LPG and petrol.
Dacia Bigster: India
The Bigster will be coming to India in 2025 but only after the Duster. It will come as a 3-row SUV instead of just the 2-rows in international markets. The Duster and Bigster will come under the Renault badge in India, unlike Dacia in other countries.
