Ducati DesertX launched in India at Rs 17.91 lakh
Ducati has launched the much-awaited DesertX Adventure bike in India at starting price of Rs 17.91 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for Ducati DesertX are now open and the deliveries will commence in early 2023. The ADV will square off against rivals in the form of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally and the Honda Africa Twin out here, in India.
The DesertX exudes all the traits of a thoroughbred ADV bike like the 46mm Kayaba fork up front with 230mm of travel, a monoshock at the rear with 220mm of suspension travel, 250mm of ground clearance, a 21-litre fuel tank as well as an optional eight-litre fuel tank mount option at the rear. The seat height of the bike is at 875mm. The DesertX gets Brembo M50 monobloc radial callipers and 320mm discs at the front to help slow the DesertX on the road and a two-pot calliper and 265mm rotor to stabilise the rig in the dirt. Yes, those round LED DRLs which are a nod to the older generation of rally bikes are a very neat touch too.
The DesertX is propelled by the same 937cc, liquid-cooled, Testrastretta twin that powers the Monster and Multistrada V2 models. The adventure bike's motor churns out a max power of 110PS at 9,250rpm and max torque of 92Nm at 6,500rpm and has been tuned to match its ADV stature. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The DesertX comes with most of the bells and whistles that Ducati have in its arsenal â" like the 5-inch TFT screen and features like wheelie control, IMU-assisted traction control, cruise control, bi-directional quickshifter and engine brake control. The adventure bike has a kerb weight of 223kg. The motorcycle sits on off-road ready 21/18-inch wheels dressed in tubeless Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
