Ducati Desmo450 MX unveiled
The Ducati Desmo450 MX has been unveiled as the first motocross motorcycle from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, with production scheduled to begin from the second half of 2025. The motorcycle is powered by a 450cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and the engine sits in a newly designed aluminum frame.
Ducati has not disclosed the power figures, but it has conveyed that the engine and chassis are the result of extensive development and testing for racing conditions. The Desmo450 MX features fully adjustable KYB suspension, with 48mm upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear. The bike is equipped with Brembo braking systems at both the ends, using wave discs for optimal braking performance.
The frame is paired with forged triple clamps and the swingarm is made from lightweight aluminium. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels, shod with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 MidSoft tyres. The ergonomics are designed with slim seat profiles, wide footpegs and rider-focused weight distribution for maneuverability, jumps and landings.
The bike is finished in the signature Ducati Red with racing graphics. The bodywork of the bike is functional and compact, developed with input from factory riders to reduce weight and increase movement freedom. The Desmo450 MX was tested and developed by eight-time Italian champion Alessandro Lupino and nine-time World Champion Antonio Cairoli.
Additional highlights of the bike includes an all new off-road division -Ducati Corse Off-Road, and the company aims to expand it's off road lineup further in 2027 with additional models based on the Desmo450 MX platform.
