Porsche launched the electric Macan 4 and Turbo models earlier this year but both cars were strictly available with an AWD setup. Porsche has addressed that issue and launched a new entry-level rear-wheel drive variant to make the EV SUV more accessible to customers. There is also another new variant launched that will slot right in between the 4 (not available in India) and Turbo known as the 4S.

Porsche Macan Electric: Variants and Prices

Porsche Macan Electric: Rs 1.22 crore

Porsche Macan 4S Electric: Rs 1.39 crore

Porsche Macan Turbo Electric: Rs 1.69 crore

Porsche Macan Electric & 4S Electric: Powertrain

Using the same rear-mounted electric motor as the Macan 4, the entry-level model can produce up to 340PS and 563Nm. When in overboost mode, which can be accessed during launch control, the car can give you an additional 20PS on tap and that can take this car from 0 to 100kmph in 5.7 seconds.

According to Porsche, the absence of a front-mounted electric motor makes the Macan 110 kg lighter than the Macan 4, which helps it reach a maximum range of 641 km while adhering to the WLTP standard. Top speed is rated at 220kmph.

Moving on to the 4S which uses the same 100kWh battery pack that is standard across the electric Macan range, it gets a more powerful rear-axle motor, alongside the same front motor as the other AWD Macans'. It is capable of producing a total of 448PS and 820Nm. Once again, in overboost mode, the power figure jumps up to a whopping 516PS. With a WLTP range of 606 km, the 4S can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.1 seconds.

The 800-volt architecture that is built on the PPE platform, shared by all electric Porsche Macan models, allows DC charging up to 270 kW, meaning that a battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes.

Porsche Macan Electric: Features

A new 20-inch Macan S wheel and an off-road design kit are now available as options for all Macan models, which may also be chosen with the new Slate Grey Neo exterior paint treatment. The off-road package raises the ground clearance to 195mm and the approach angle is improved to 17.4 degrees. The standard air suspension increases ground clearance to 225mm at its maximum setting. The off-road kit includes a redesigned front bumper, side skirts, diffuser, 21-inch off-road wheels and roof rails that can be painted Vesuvius Grey or the same colour as the body.

The interior still has a 12.6-inch curved digital instrument cluster display and a 10.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment. Additional features include an optional 10.9-inch passenger display, head-up display with augmented reality, and ambient lighting.

The displays on all Macan models have also been redesigned as per Porsche. It now features a welcome animation, an upgraded design, and the new Themes app, which allows users to change the ambient lighting and display backdrop colours to match the outside colour.
