First-ever Mini all-electric John Cooper Works models: All you need to know
Mini has introduced the new John Cooper Works (JCW) Electric and John Cooper Works Aceman at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, marking the first all-electric versions of the iconic JCW performance models. These high-performance EVs are also packed with advanced technology.
The all-electric Mini JCW models offer impressive acceleration, with the MINI 3 door sprinting from zero to 100kmph in just 5.9 seconds and the John Cooper Works Aceman reaching 100kmph from a standing start in 6.4 seconds. Both models have a top speed of 200kmph and a power output of 231PS and 350Nm of torque. The high-voltage batteries provide a range of up to 371km for the JCW Electric and up to 355km for the JCW Aceman.
With the development of these new fully electric models, Mini John Cooper Works is continuing its long racing tradition, dating back to the 1960s when the classic Mini achieved success on racetracks and rally courses.
The all-electric Mini JCW models feature an electric boost function, providing an additional 20kW of electric power for overtaking manoeuvres and performance-boosting acceleration. This go-kart mode can be activated by pressing the boost paddle on the sport steering wheel, offering a unique high-acceleration driving experience.
JCW-specific suspension settings maximise the go-kart feeling and ensure agile handling. High-performance, high-grip tyres are standard on both models, while a braking system in Chili Red with a white JCW logo claims to provide safe deceleration even in demanding driving situations.
The focus on top performance is paired with sporty design language of the JCW EVs. The red, white, and black John Cooper Works logo feature on the octagonal front grille in high-gloss black, and the illuminated logo greets the driver as a welcome projection from the exterior mirrors.
The daytime running lights of the LED headlights feature horizontal bars in JCW Signature. Black side skirts, aero blades at the level of the C-pillar, and the rear spoiler optimise aerodynamics. A contrasting roof in Chili Red or a John Cooper Works-specific multi-tone roof also adds to the overall design. Then, aerodynamically optimised wheels are available in 18-inch for the JCW Electric, while 19-inch size for the JCW Aceman.
The interior bears typical JCW-specific colour scheme, with a black and red pattern adorning the knitted surface of the dashboard. The ambient lighting illuminates the panoramic roof is an exclusive. The JCW driver and front passenger seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather with multi-coloured knitted fabric at the shoulders and red accent stitching.
Furthermore, the central OLED display summarises all vehicle-related data. The driver and front passenger can access air conditioning, media, phone, and navigation settings via the central instrument, plus the new Mini Experience Modes allow for customisation of the interior ambience.
In terms of features, parking assistant professional uses twelve ultrasonic sensors and four surround view cameras to detect suitable parking spaces and automatically initiate parking manoeuvres if required. Mini also offers the JCW pair with ADAS. The Mini Navigation package offers support with 3D visualisation, augmented view, traffic information, parking options, and more.
