First sightings of new-gen Tata Nexon
A fully camouflaged prototype model of the new generation Tata Nexon was recently spotted undergoing tests in India. A new generation update has been due for one of the best-selling sub-compact SUVs since its first mid-cycle update three years ago. The carmaker introduced the first-gen Nexon in September 2017, with prices starting at Rs 5.85 lakh.
New-gen Tata Nexon: Design
The upcoming new generation Tata Nexon is expected to feature a complete design overall. With a fresh exterior, the SUV could get a split headlight setup similar to the flagship Safari, Harrier, and Punch. It is also likely to come with newly designed side profiles, front and rear bumpers, taillamps, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. Furthermore, it is hard to speculate whether the all-new Nexon will use a new or tweaked platform.
Meanwhile, the on-sale Nexon measures 3,993mm in length, 1,811mm in width, and 1606mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,498mm. Whereas, it has a 209mm ground clearance and 350 litres of boot space.
New-gen Tata Nexon: Interior
The interior is also likely to bear a fresh and modern look with new upholstery. The SUV could also get a new touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster that might be the 10.25-inch and seven-inch units like the upcoming Safari/Harrier Red Dark Edition. Additionally, Tata may offer a new steering wheel and ambient lighting.
New-gen Tata Nexon: Features
The new-gen Nexon might come equipped with a host of additional features, such as a 360-degree camera, powered front seats, full LED lights at the front and rear, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
New-gen Tata Nexon: Powertrain
While the current model is powered by 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines, it is not clear at the moment if the new generation SUV will benefit from a new petrol engine, such as the new 1.2-litre TGDi, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023.
New-gen Tata Nexon: Launch
The prototype model of the upcoming Nexon appears to be in the initial stages of testing. Thus, Tata is expected to unveil the all-new model sometime later this year or early in 2024.
