First sightings of new Skoda sub-four-metre SUV
Skoda's upcoming a new sub-four-metre SUV has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Earlier this month, the brand revealed its plan to introduce a new sub-compact SUV into the ever-growing and one of the most sought-after SUV segments in the market, which is currently dominated by Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet facelift, and Mahindra XUV300.
New Skoda sub-four-metre SUV: Design
While the spy shot does not show the front end and side profile of the Skoda sub-compact SUV, they only show a small portion of the rear end. However, the test mule was completely camouflaged.
Skoda has already revealed a teaser image of its new sub-four-metre SUV. In fact, this will be one of the first offerings in India to bear the brand's new design philosophy. As seen in the teaser, it will come with a split headlight where the daytime driving lights are parallel to the edge of the bonnet and the main LED headlights will be below them. It might get the trendy full-length light bar.
Meanwhiel, it will use the MQB-A0-IN platform that also underpins the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Slavia.
New Skoda sub-four-metre SUV: Interior
Although the spy pictures do not give out any details about the interior, expect it to get a fresh design, could be like the new-gen Kodiaq and Superb, featuring a dual-tone theme, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, artificial leather upholstery, telematics, sunroof, USB Type-C sockets, powered driver seat, ambient lighting, and air purifier, among others.
New Skoda sub-four-metre SUV: Engine specifications
We believe the new Skoda SUV to offer the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 115PS and 178Nm of torque. This motor, in the other Volkswagen and Skoda vehicles in the country, comes with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.
New Skoda sub-four-metre SUV: Launch timeline
Skoda India had previously said that the new sub-compact SUV would arrive by the end of the first quarter in 2025. That said, the new Skoda SUV could go on sale with price starting at Rs 7-8 lakh.
