Force Gurkha 3-door vs 5-door: What's different?

Force has unveiled the 2024 Force Gurkha in India and the car is now available as a 3-door as well as a 5-door. By offering the added 5-door version of the tough off-roader, Force Motors hopes to make the Gurkha a more appealable prospect for families. Let's take a quick look at what are the key differences between the 3-door and 5-door versions of the Gurkha.

The major difference between the 2 versions of the Gurkha is obviously the dimensions. Being a 5-door, the car is slightly bigger than its 3-door sibling. The 3-door car has a wheelbase of 2,400mm while the 5-door vehicle has a wheelbase of 2,825mm. The cars have a difference of 425mm in their wheelbase and in their lengths. The smaller car can seat a maximum of 4 people and the larger one increases that capacity to 7 individuals.

The overall height of the two versions is also a bit different. With the Roof Carrier (RC) the 3-door car stands at 2,270mm and without it, at 2,080mm. The 5-door car on the other hand stands tall at 2,296mm with the RC and 2,095 without it. The bigger Gurkha also has a turning radius of 6.3m which is 0.8m more than the 3-door. The gross vehicle weight of the cars also is 2,800kg and 3,125kg for the 3-door and 5-door, respectively.

The remaining bits are all shared between the two cars. A standard 2.6-litre 4-cylinder diesel does duties in the powertrain department. Maximum power and torque figures are rated at 140PS and 320Nm, respectively. There is no automatic transmission available on offer, just an old-school 5-speed manual.

The car sits on a ladder-frame chassis and comes standard with front and rear differential locks. It also gets anti-roll bars for the front and rear and while the front brakes are discs, the rear is equipped with drum brakes. Both versions have a water-wading capacity of 700mm.

The Features list includes a 9-inch Android-based touchscreen, Type-A charging ports, a 12V outlet, tilt-adjust steering, power windows, LED lighting and central locking. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS, TPMS, three-point seatbelts for all but the middle second-row passenger and a reversing camera.
