Frankfurt Auto Show 2013: New BMW X5
BMW has taken the wraps off the new updated 2014 X5.
The exteriors of the 3rd generation X5 have indeed taken a revision. The tall upright stance, two-piece tailgate, large chrome-surrounded kidney grilles, LED combined headlamps, well-contoured bumper and bonnet and a finer shoulder line stand witness to changes in the new X5. A key design is also the tall glasshouse. At 4886mm in length, 1938mm in width and 1762mm in height, this X5 is 32mm longer, 5mm wider and 14mm taller than the oldie. The 2933mm wheelbase remains the same.
On the inside, the new X5 gets a 650-litre boot. Head up display, night vision with human and animal detection, lane departure warning and road sign information, a 360 degree surround-view parking assistant and collision warning with an automatic braking function and fully prepped ConnectedDrive are other attractive features.
The engine options are a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol that produces 450PS, 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel that delivers 258PS and 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel that delivers 381PS. Another three engine options could be made available later. These include a turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel that pushes out 218PS, a turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel that delivers 313PS and a turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol that delivers 306PS.
