Honda Elevate: India-spec vs Japan-spec differences explained

Honda's Elevate has gone on sale in Japan after its India debut in September 2023. However, the Japanese carmaker has introduced the SUV as the new WR-V instead of Elevate. It also used to sell the WR-V in India along with the Jazz and Mobilio, but it phased out the WR-V model earlier this year. That said, here are the key differences between the India-spec Elevate and Japan-spec new WR-V/Elevate.

Honda Elevate Design and Interior: India-spec vs Japan-spec

To start with, the Japan-spec Elevate/WR-V looks identical to the India-spec model but comes with only five single-tone paint options compared with seven single-tone and three dual-tone colour options available in India. On the inside, the most significant difference between the two is that the Elevate/WR-V on-sale in Japan gets an all-black interior and upholstery. Additionally, there is a distinctive touchscreen infotainment system as against the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system offered with the SUV sold here. While the India-spec Elevate boasts a wireless phone charging and an electric sunroof, its Japanese counterpart missed out both the features.

On the flip side, both the SUVs get the few same features, such as a lane watch camera, a reverse camera with parking sensors, multiple airbags, and ADAS comprising adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assistance, and more.

Honda Elevate Powertrain: India-spec vs Japan-spec

The Japan-spec Elevate/WR-V comes powered by the same 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine as the India-spec offering, which makes 121PS and 145Nm of torque. The India-spec model can be had with either a six-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options, whereas the Japanese Elevate/WR-V only gets the CVT unit option.

Honda Elevate Pricing: India-spec vs Japan-spec

The Japanese-spec Elevate/WR-V will be priced from two million Yen in its home country, which is approximately around Rs 10.99 lakh. On the other hand, India-spec Elevate is priced between Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 16.28 lakh (ex-showroom).
