The most popular automobile customisation company in India, DC design, has revealed a luxurious package for the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in India. DC2 Design, which is the new brand identity, has already sold a total of 40 units of the same. Joining the company's high-end client list is Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, who acquired a heavily kitted V-Class. The price for the kit is in the range of Rs 34 lakh over the price of the vehicle, depending on the customisation options. This is also the second time that DC has personalised a car for the Bollywood actor with the previous one being in 2010.
The external design of the V-Class has been left untouched, as has been the norm with DC. The interior, however, has been heavily overhauled to make it feel way more luxurious than the stock offering. Retaining the existing dimensions, this version of the V-Class boasts of features like roof lighting, Nappa leather upholstery, a dedicated switch panel for various functions such as adjusting the seat position, intensity of lights and also accessing phone. The cabin also comes with a foldable table, wooden flooring, 170-degree power reclining seats, twin jump seat and 32-inch TV. Also, one can opt for a dedicated partition between the driver and the cabin or a see through glass. The windows have been covered while the seats have been done in white Nappa leather with premium stitching. Lastly, there is also a provision for a mini fridge in the cabin. With all these modifications, the V-Class has gained weight of 40kg.
Since Hrithik's car was the first V-Class, it took DC2 design a total of three months from design to execution. But that has been brought down to 40 days now. The changes done to the car are purely in terms of comfort and features as there are no alterations in the mechanical department. Currently, DC2 design has its presence in Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon with a dedicated sales and service set-up. In addition to the V-Class, DC2 Design is also working on customising Kia Carnivals and Toyota Vellfires, in addition to working on popular cars like the Toyota Innova. The company has worked on a total of 4,000 Innovas in 10 years, with their latest customer being actress Madhuri Dixit Nene.
Last year, the V-Class luxury MPV was launched in India at Rs 68.40 lakh, ex-showroom, for the Expression trim. Powering the MPV is a 2.1-litre turbocharged diesel mated to a 7-speed automatic. The engine comes with BlueEfficiency, assisting in its BSVI compliance. Power figures stand at 163PS and 380 Nm of torque, which help the MPV cover the 0-100 kmph dash in 10.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of 195kmph. The V-Class is also available in the top-of-the-line Marco Polo camper van trim at Rs 1.38 crore, ex-showroom.
