Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre launched in India at Rs 3.83 lakh
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched a new 1.0-litre Eon with the Kappa engine. The Eon 1.0-litre will be available only in the Magna+ variant and is priced at Rs 3,83,130 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The older 800cc Eon will be sold alongside the new 1.0-litre variant.
Hyundai with the 1.0-litre Kappa engine
The 1.0-litre Kappa engine has an aluminum head and block, reducing its overall weight; low friction timing chain and piston cooling jets which ensure optimum engine working temperature, resulting in better fuel economy as well as performance. The three cylinder engine features VTVT technology and displaces 998cc, generating maximum power 69PS and a peak torque of 94.14Nm which is 13PS and 20Nm more than the 800cc variant, respectively. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a five speed manual gearbox. The larger engine has resulted in a slightly lower ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 20.3kmpl against the claimed 21.1kmpl of the 0.8-litre model.

Hyundai introduces Eon with 1.0 Litre Kappa engine
| New Delhi May 6, 2014: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country's largest exporter and the second-largest car manufacturer today introduced the advanced 1.0 Litre Kappa engine for the India's trendsetter Eon. The new 1.0 Litre Eon will be available along with the current 0.8 Litre Eon. The Euro 5 ready 1.0 Litre Kappa petrol engine is equipped with latest Dual VTVT technology and designed to deliver high engine performance, with enhanced fuel efficiency and low emissions. The advanced 1.0 Litre three-cylinder engine delivers high power of 69PS@6,200 rpm and peak torque at 9.6 kgm at 3500 rpm for enhanced driving experience resulting in less frequent gear shifting and high fuel efficiency of 20.3 Kmpl (ARAI Certified). The all-aluminum 1.0 Litre Kappa engine promises weight reduction with adoption of aluminum head and block that help achieve improved fuel economy. Moreover to minimize the noise, vibration & harshness levels (NVH), low friction timing chain has been adopted while the piston cooling jets ensures optimum piston temperature for most efficient engine working for higher fuel economy & enhanced engine performance. The 1.0 Litre engine is mated with 5-speed manual gearbox which offers smooth gear shifting and has low noise gear design for improved NVH.
