Hyundai Exter exterior design fully unveiled
Hyundai India has fully revealed the external design of the Exter B-SUV ahead of its July 10 debut. We had only seen the front end of the up until now, but now we have a comprehensive first look at the upcoming Hyundai Exter.
The upcoming Exter SUV will be available in seven primary variants, starting from EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect. Hyundai will also offer it with a CNG version and that will be available in a choice of two variants: S and SX.
Hyundai Exter: Rear Design
The Exter's rear design is distinguished by a broad black trim that spans the tailgate and joins the squarish LED tail lamps at each end. The black contrasting trim is textured, and the Hyundai emblem is positioned in the centre. The tail-lamps, like the LED daytime running lights in the front, feature an 'H' lighting signature. The rear bumper has a more muscular appearance, thanks to the thick and massive dual-tone cladding that compliments the squared-off wheel arches and even the heavy side sills.
Hyundai Exter: Colours
In terms of colour schemes, the Exter will be offered in six single-tone shades namely, Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Ranger Khaki, and Titan Grey. Customers will also be able to choose from three dual-tone paint jobs: Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black, Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black, and Atlas Black with Abyss Black.
Hyundai Exter: Features and Safety
Hyundai is likely to equip the Exter with a bunch of features, such as cruise control, USB Type-C charging ports, a cooled glove box, a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, powered ORVMs with auto-fold, and auto headlamps, among others. It is also believed to come with an electric sunroof.
The Hyundai Exter will come equipped with electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, assist control, ABS with EBD, a alarm, a three-point seat , seatbelt reminder for all seats, keyless entry, and rear parking sensors are all included in this package.
Furthermore, the Exter receives improved safety measures that may be limited to top-spec models exclusively. Auto headlights with escort function, rear defogger, rear parking camera, TPMS and ISOFIX are all included. Aside from that, Hyundai will also provide the first-in-segment dashcam with twin cameras.
Hyundai Exter: Powertrains
Powering the Exter will be a 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. We expect this unit to produce 83PS and 114Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Exter CNG could deliver 69PS and 95Nm of torque. A 1.2-litre petrol motor will be mated to a five-speed manual and an AMT transmission, while the CNG version will be only paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai Exter: Prices and Rivals
We believe the prices of the Hyundai Exter to start from around Rs 6 lakh and go up to 10 lakh. Upon launch, the Exter will compete against the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
