Image gallery: 2016 Jaguar XE
The XE is Jaguars' latest and most affordable car. It goes up against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. For now, the XE is available only in petrol but diesel models will arrive soon. We found it to be an exciting car thanks to its powerful 240PS 2.0-litre engine and sharp chassis. Read more in our road test review.
The XE gets a sleeker, angrier version of the XF's face
The XE looks taut and athletic
Rear lamps light up like an F-Type at night
Dual tail pipes emerge straight from the catalytic converter. No aesthetic muffler tips here
The Jaguar has an excellent ride/handling balance
Ground clearance is not troublesome given some car over bad speedbreakers
Smart dials but the multi-information display looks a little low res in comparison to the main screen on the dashboard
Handsome cabin has a leather wrapped dashboard and a wrap-around effect like a speedboat
Rear space isn't great, especially for tall passengers. Headroom is quite compromised
455-litre boot isn't much larger than some sub-4m compact sedans
Chunky steering wheel comes with paddle shifters
Signature Jaguar rotary gear lever emerges from the centre console when the car starts
2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol is supremely refined and makes a punchy 240PS/340Nm
Bi-xenon headlamps make night seem like day
17-inch wheels are standard but customers can option 18 and even 19-inch rims as accessories
