Lexus has officially unveiled the second-generation LM MPV in India and bookings for the luxury MPV are underway. This is the first time Lexus has imported the LM to India since the first-generation model was only available in China. The vehicle will officially go on sale later this year and will be priced at a premium over its sister model, the Toyota Vellfire.

Lexus LM Design

The new generation LM uses Toyota's TNGA-K modular platform. With this, the MPV measures 5,125mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,955mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000mm. With the overhauled exterior, the LM features an enormous grille with hexagonal-pattern elements, Lexus' signature daytime driving lights integrated into LED headlights, door-mounted outside door mirrors, a light bar at the back running across the width, and a new set of 17-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the design language of the LM is dominated by various cuts and creases on the body panels.

Lexus LM Interior

The interior remains the fundamental component of the new Lexus LM, which is largely chauffeur-driven. The new product will be available in 4 or 7-seater configurations globally, as well as a more deluxe four-seater arrangement. We believe Lexus India will only sell the top-spec four-seater version of the luxury van in India. The back seats are electrically operated separate seats that face a 48-inch display.

A privacy glass with two-level dimming, a refrigerator, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a retractable leather-wrapped table placed under the armrest are among the many features. The luxurious LM is also the first vehicle to have the automaker's innovative Rear Climate Concierge smart air conditioning technology. The system detects the occupant's face, chest, thighs, and lower legs with infrared sensors to estimate the amount of cooling necessary in the cabin and adjusts the temperature appropriately.

Lexus prioritized sound deadening and insulation with the second-generation LM, which features a specifically constructed headliner and enhanced sealing, increasing insulation by 40 percent. The MPV also has noise-reducing wheels and tyres, as well as active noise management, which reduces noises detected by a microphone while driving.

Lexus LM Powertrain

The LM is available with either a 2.4-litre hybrid or a 2.5-litre hybrid powerplant. The 2.5-litre self-charging hybrid engine will be offered in the Lexus LM350h, which will also come standard with four-wheel drive. This might be India's powertrain choice as well.

There will also be a more powerful LM500h, which will join the worldwide lineup later. The engine will be a 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder turbo hybrid powerplant.

Keeping in mind that the new Toyota Vellfire was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.19 crore, we don't expect the LM to be cheap.
