Kia EV9 launched in India at Rs 1.30 crore
Alongside the new Kia Carnival, the South Korean brand has also launched the Kia EV9 in India at a staggering price of Rs 1.30 crore. (ex-showroom). The EV9 is Kia's flagship electric SUV globally and will come to India via the CBU route and will be sold in a single, fully loaded GT-Line trim.
Kia EV9: Design
The EV9 SUV measures 5,015mm in length, 1,980mm in width, 1,780mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,100mm. Inverted Z-shaped LED DRLs and an extended bonnet with a blanked-off grille are featured on its front fascia. The boxy form, enormous wheel arches with 20-inch crystal-cut alloys, flushed door handles, door-mounted ORVMs, and a sizable window area define its side profile. It has a spoiler, a dual-tone bumper with a skid plate, vertical LED taillamps, and a rather tidy tailgate.
Kia EV9: Interior & Features
The EV9's interior features three rows of seats i.e. a 2+2+2 seating layout and a simple dashboard. Its features include a multi-screen panel with integrated 12.3-inch infotainment and driver's displays, an eight-way powered second-row captain seat, heated and ventilated first and second-row seats, auto air conditioning, wireless phone charging, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, a power tailgate, a dual sunroof, and 64-color ambient lighting.
On the safety front, the e-SUV is fitted with 10 airbags, ESC, hill descent control, vehicle stability management, parking sensors at the front, side and rear, all-wheel disc brakes and a 360-degree camera. The EV also has an ADAS suite that includes 27 of the newest capabilities for autonomous driving assistance.
Kia EV9: Powertrain
The long-range model, the EV9 GT-line in India, has a 99.8kWh battery that provides an ARAI range of 561km of range. This model has two electric motors on each axle that together provide 384PS and 700Nm of torque. Kia claims that the EV9 is capable of doing 0 to 100kph in just 5.3 seconds. With a 350kWh DC charger, it can be quickly charged in just 24 minutes from 0 to 80 percent.
