Kia India confirm ADAS tech for Sonet facelift in new teaser video
Kia recently released a second teaser video for the Sonet facelift ahead of its December 14 introduction in India. This will be the first substantial facelift to the sub-4m SUV, and the Korean automaker has revealed that the Sonet facelift will be equipped with ADAS technology.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Interior and Features
This new teaser also reveals that the Sonet makeover would have an ADAS suite identical to the Venue. The teaser shows that the Sonet has forward collision warning and automated emergency braking (AEB). While additional specifics about the ADAS suite have yet to be known, we can anticipate the small SUV to receive features such as lane departure warning, blindspot warning, attention assist, and others.
Inside, you can anticipate a new HVAC control panel, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital driver instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera system, and much more. A touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, linked vehicle technology, and automatic temperature control are also expected to be retained.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Design
As seen in previous images, the redesigned Kia Sonet is painted in red and features a reworked front fascia with a smaller grille. The facelifted sub-4-metre SUV has new LED headlights that are slightly identical to those seen on the current Seltos. The only change to the side profile is the new set of alloy wheels.
Lower variants of the Sonet models will continue to be equipped with halogen headlights rather than LEDs. Kia's 'tiger-nose' grille has also been changed, as has the new, more aggressive bumper. Aside from that, the fog lamps are now horizontally positioned and fairly thin.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Powertrains
The existing 83PS and 115Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine, the 120PS and 172Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116PS and 250Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine are anticipated to be retained in the Sonet facelift. The petrol engine is likely to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines will continue to use the 6-speed iMT. They will also receive a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed automatic transmission, respectively.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Launch
Kia India will unveil the pricing of the Sonet facelift only at the beginning of 2024. However, due to the addition of new features and other modifications, we might anticipate a little premium above present costs. For comparison, the current model range starts at Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
