Kia Sonet Compact sub-4m SUV production-spec model to be unveiled on August 7
Kia Motors has announced a date for the unveiling of its third product for India, the Sonet compact SUV on August 7, 2020. Rival to the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, recently launched Honda WR-V and also its platform sibling the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 in the concept form. As seen with the Seltos, Kia is likely to retain most of the design elements from the concept model. Sales across the country is expected to commence from September this year.
From the looks of it, design will be one of the strongest highlights of the Kia Sonet SUV especially with the striking front profile featuring the signature tiger nose grille. Additionally, the design features squared wheel arches, higher ground clearance and a compact rear end, with LED lights all throughout. We expect this sun-4m offering from Kia Motors to set a benchmark in the design aspect compared to its other rivals mentioned above. Like the Seltos, the Kia Sonet too will come loaded with features, which includes 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, Bose audio system and an intelligent manual transmission. The company also claims that the Sonet will offer best-in-class interior space and features.
Under the hood, the Sonet might continue employing the Venue powertrains - the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with the dual-clutch AT, the 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and the 1.5-litre 100PS diesel engine with a 6-speed manual. Safety equipment like dual front airbags with ABS will be standard.
