Kia teases a compact SUV for India
A teaser for Kia's next small SUV for the Indian market has been released. This new car will be part of the Kia 2.0 transformation strategy. According to some internet sources, this new SUV may be called the Kia Clavis or Kia Syros because Kia India trademarked both of these names this year.
The design initially shows a towering, boxy SUV that appears to be influenced by the Kia Carnival and the newly released Kia EV9 electric SUV, which Kia claims are the main sources of inspiration for the next generation. The car also features flush door handles and there appears to be no C-pillar but just a flowing glass window that has a notch in the beltline. The rear angle features roof rails and L-shaped tail lights as well as a flat design for the boot lid.
The upcoming mini SUV is probably going to include a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, two displays, and a dual-tone interior. Features like ADAS, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, automated climate control, ventilated front seats, and more might be added to the vehicle.
Kia is still to make any comment on the powertrain but rumour has it that an ICE and EV version are in the works. We suspect that the ICE car will feature the brand's existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and as for the EV, it could have a battery pack somewhere between 30kWh to 40kWh.
