Lamborghini Huracan successor will be plug-in hybrid V8
Lamborghini has finally confirmed a lot of leaks and rumours that the Huracan supercar's replacement, perhaps dubbed Temerario, would be without the renowned V10 engine. The new car is code-named the '634' and might carry the Temerario name into production according to recent trademark action.
The outgoing car's naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine has been replaced with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8. The Italian carmaker also stated that the new V8 would be accompanied by three electric motors and the dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox introduced in the Revuelto hypercar.
The engine will produce 800PS with a rev range of 9,000 to 9,750 rpm. It was also revealed to have a flat-plane crankshaft and the potential to rev up to 10,000 rpm. One of the electric motors is positioned between the petrol engine and the new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, producing 150PS and 300Nm.
The location of the remaining two electric motors is yet to be confirmed but we think they will be mounted up front to power the front 2 wheels.
Lamborghini also says it placed particular focus on the V8's sound, claiming "the characteristics of the new V8 intensify in a crescendo that at high revs reaches its peak in terms of volume and frequency content".
The Huracan replacement will be shown later this year, with speculations pointing to an August premiere. Lamborghini will soon be a completely electric brand since the Urus has lately gone plug-in hybrid.
