Mahindra Global Pik Up concept breaks cover
With the intention of expanding its presence in more international markets through its latest offering, Mahindra has provided a preview of the new Global Pik Up concept at the Futurescape event hosted in Cape Town, South Africa. This pickup concept places a strong emphasis on design, advanced technology, connectivity, and off-road capabilities, while still retaining the practicality of a pickup. Described as a versatile lifestyle vehicle suitable for both daily commutes and adventurous trips, the Global Pik Up concept showcases Mahindra's commitment to innovation.
The Global Pik Up will hold a pivotal role in Mahindra's "go global" strategy, forming a cornerstone alongside other upcoming vehicles. Initial plans involve introducing the Global Pik Up in markets where the brand already has a presence, including South Africa. Other potential markets on the radar include Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Central America, Africa MENA, and a phased introduction in ASEAN countries. Additionally, Mahindra is poised to launch the pickup in India in the forthcoming years.
Mahindra Global Pik Up Design
Developed at the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in the United Kingdom, the Global Pik Up concept embodies the brand's vision of a robust, stylish, and versatile vehicle, aligning with its interpretation of an authentic lifestyle pickup. Underpinning the vehicle is a new-generation ladder frame platform, internally referred to as Z121.
The design of the Global Pik Up exudes a rugged and commanding presence, complemented by contemporary touches. It also shares design elements with the currently available Scorpio-N model. Notable design highlights encompass a mesh-patterned grille, L-shaped daytime running lights, rugged front and rear bumpers equipped with tow hooks, a snorkel, a roof-mounted carrier featuring an LED light bar, substantial body cladding, a spacious load bay, side steps for easy access, and sizable tires fitted onto five-spoke wheels.
Mahindra Global Pik Up Features
The Global Pik Up comes replete with an array of modern features and advanced technologies, including level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), trailer sway mitigation, multiple airbags, drowsy driver detection, 5G connectivity, driving modes, a premium sound system, and a sunroof, among others. Particularly noteworthy is the semi-automatic parking function. Mahindra has also incorporated its 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system.
