Mahindra showcase 3 upcoming EV SUVs in a new teaser
Mahindra released a brief video showcasing its next line of electric SUVs built on a new platform. It displayed the Mahindra XUV.e8, Mahindra XUV.09 and Mahindra BE.05 on a test track to show off their capabilities. The top speed run in which the speedometer shows the EVs doing 200 kmph was done on Mahindra's SUV proving track in Chennai.
The XUV.e8, essentially an electric XUV700, will be the first of these three EVs to hit the market, most likely in late 2024. The XUV.e9, essentially an SUV-coupe variant of the XUV.e8, is set to go on sale in April 2025. This is also the first time Mahindra has shown off the forthcoming electric SUV coupe in testing.
The BE.05 is in the last stages of development, with the company revealing a production-ready camouflaged vehicle in August. You can read more about that here.
All three electric SUVs were heavily camouflaged, but their overall design language appears to be the same as their concept counterparts. The XUV.e8 retains the appearance of its ICE counterpart, the XUV700, and everything else resembles the ICE SUV save for the EV-specific front.
The XUV.e9 features a similar front appearance as the XUV.e8, with the exception of coupe design and linked tail lights. The design of the alloy wheels is another distinction between the two.
The BE.05, has a massive glass roof. The design also incorporates a sculpted bonnet, which adds to its visual attractiveness. Moving backwards, an eye-catching roof-mounted split spoiler takes the stage, while the tailgate with an LED lightbar looks fantastic.
Furthermore, the cars disclose a few essential characteristics such as flush-fitting door handles, L-shaped LED DRLs, and a completely digital instrument dashboard with a speedometer capable of reaching 200 kmph
All three SUVs are built on the INGLO platform, which can accommodate both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Power outputs are expected to be around 285PS for the rear-wheel drive powertrain while the AWD versions could possibly be closing in on the 400PS mark.
Currently, Mahindra only offers the Mahindra XUV400 in its EV portfolio but that will change by December 2024 when the Mahindra XUV.08 will be launched. Following that will be the Mahindra BE.05 SUV, which will be on sale in October 2025 and is expected to directly rival the upcoming Tata Curvv.
