Mahindra Thar obtains 75,000 bookings in just a year since its launch
It's no breaking news that the new Mahindra Thar is most certainly a fan favourite and it continues to prove so, as Mahindra has now confirmed that Thar has now completed 75,000 bookings in just a year later after its launch.
The new Mahindra Thar is a more than capable off-roader and its road presence is what attracts customers towards the vehicle. Its boxy looks were targeted towards the millennials and it seems to have worked as per Mahindra's strategy as millennials account for 40 percent of the total bookings.
The automatic model garnered 50% of the reservations, while the petrol variant obtained 25% of the overall bookings.
The Mahindra Thar is offered in two engines, a 2-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol engine with 152PS and 320 Nm of torque. A lesser powerful 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with 132PS and 320 Nm is also available.
A 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission is offered for both engines. All versions come equipped with a four-wheel drive and a manual-shift transfer case.
The only problem that lies for Mahindra is the global semiconductor supply shortage. Due to this, car manufacturers across the world are facing disruption in production. This has resulted in a six month waiting period for a new Mahindra Thar.
Pricing for the Mahindra Thar starts from Rs 12.78 lakh.
